The Future is Now!

Written by

This post will prove one thing; I know very little about computers. Most of us are using computers every day. I'm sitting in front of two screens as I'm writing this now and chances are you're reading this while "on line." But this recent news from Google is astounding. It's the kind of news that leaves your head spinning. In a nutshell, Google, (the search engine we frequently turn to with inane questions such as "who won 'Dancing With The Stars' last year?"), reports their 53-bit quantum computer named Sycamore took just 200 seconds to perform a calculation that would have taken the world's top supercomputer 10,000 years to crack. Come On! What does that even mean? I don't know but...wow!! Let's hope whatever super computing can do, it'll be done for the benefit of the human race. At this point, I've got nothing more to offer so if you'd like to learn more, click here. In the meantime, I'll just be checking to see if my robot insurance premiums are paid up for "when the metal ones come for me."
