The 31st Annual Norton Cider Festival is happening this weekend! You talk about some small town, tasty, family fun... This is it! The weather will be seasonal and perfect to enjoy all the fun & apple treats.
I remember going to this one every year with my mom and enjoying the games, the hot apple cider, donuts and the community as a whole. Get the schedule of events and all the rest of the details HERE!
It was a beautiful weekend in Columbus & I FINALLY got to see THE Ohio State marching band perform!
Hubby & I were there to cheer on our son and the rest of the Copley Marching Band at the Buckeye Invitational on Saturday. 44 bands in all performed, we caught about half of them and they were all fantastic! We were there for Copley High School but had the pleasure of seeing a couple other local bands including the Massillon Tiger Swing Band & Wadsworth High School. It was a long day, but it was fun! Jason & I are both Ellet Marching Band Alumni and we do love a good band show!
The day ended with TBDBITL showing us EXACTLY why they are known as The Best Damn Band In The Land! WOW!! They high-stepped across the field. The Drum major flipped and threw his baton and caught it EVERY time! Then they performed their Modern Musicals half time show from last weekend. They made swinging trapeze artists on the field! It was SOOOO cool! What an experience!
The night ended for us on a high note as we watch Copley's band bring home 2 of the 5 awards in their category and qualify for state! Oh... and I ROCKED my "Band Mom" button!
If you know anything about me at all, I love cool little shops full of funky little things. One of my favorite little spots is Gypsy Grace And The Vintage Goat. It's located on Market Street down by Tangier. Stop in to see owners Angel & Joe. They have all sorts of off the wall hand crafted goodies. Angel finds things and thinks up some crazy ideas about how to make them new again. She tells Joe her idea, and he heads back to the workshop. If you haven't stumbled into this little shop, you have to check it out!
Ok, I fell asleep just before the half last night, but I had fun watching the Brown beat up on The Jets! I know, The Jets were missing a few key players, but I don't care. We saw a more disciplined Browns team last night. And THAT OBJ CATCH!!!
If you were out to any WONE events last summer, or part of the WONE Bowling League, you probably know Cami Justice. Cami LOVES sports, and earlier this year it became her full time job writing about sports for News Channel 5. I just wanna brag a little on Cami, and share this great article she wrote about OBJ from last night's game!
Go Cami! Go Browns!
Don't you just love a good find? I'm all about the hunt. I woke up early Saturday morning with a mission. I was going to find the treasures at the giant neighborhood sale in Copley. I grabbed Ravenna (because she is the only other person awake early on a Saturday at my house) and we were off!
Mostly, we found baby stuff. LOTS of baby stuff. NO THANK YOU! But we found a new pull behind golf caddy/cart thing for my son's clubs, a cute doily and a little bird that made me happy. (see bird & doily below.)
Then we came home, grabbed Lily (because we have to wait intil after 1pm to do anything with her), and headed off to the Yankee Peddler at Clay's Park! I love the Yankee Peddler! It's an old tyme, early American craft show held under the canopy of the trees at Clay's Park for three weekend every September. If you haven't haven't been, I highly recommend it. There's entertainment & amazing food on top of all the great hand made items. We scored some home made soaps, face creams, funky ear cuffs, some art, home made beef jerky and maybe left with some home made fudge. We definately ate the fresh apple dumpling with ice cream there though!
Lily spotted the "Queen of Junk" necklace and immediately said, "This pretty much sums up my life." She's not wrong! The apple doesn't fall far from the tree... don't tell my husband I said that!
There's still time to head out & enjoy the Yankee Peddler. The final weekend is September 21 & 22. Get all the details here. Happy Hunting!
Little by little the home inprovements are getting done. The crew from Props Consultants were out Thursday to finish laying floors and finishing trim in the front hall, the tree guys from Petrarca Landcare came last week too and took two trees in the back yard. Stanley Steemer cleaned the carpets in the livingroom yesterday & tomorrow I will put my house back together!! Did you hear that?? I get to put my house back together with finished floors, walls clean carpet and sunshine in my yard!
It's neverending with home ownership, but I love taking this house, built by mu husband's grandparents, and making it our own. We still honor the integrity of the house and its history, but it's fun to take something and add your character to it.
The only thing on the direct to do list is bring in the dirt and reseed the grass. Andrew and his crew from Pertarca will be doing that in the next couple of weeks and then we can just stop and take a minute to enjoy a handful of completed projects.
A few before/ during...
Believe it or not, this Friday night is our FINAL Rock The Lock at Lock 3 in downtown Akron! It always takes me by surprise how fast the summer seems to go. It is exciting though because we get to see who will win the ultimate Treat Me Like A Rock Star Grand Prize!
Marc's Stores are celebrating their 40th anniversary and they wanted to do something big. Not just your usual fly off to see a concert, but something really big. We put our heads together and came up with "really big." How cool would it be to see the Browns take on the 49ers in a Monday night game IN San Francisco?? Then to jet over to Vegas to see Journey in concert?!?! Don't forget to hit up the buffet! Big has been delivered!!
Friday night will feature the amazing guitar of Neal Zaza as he opens for Rock The Lock fan favorites Zoso, The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience. We will party with our qualifiers while munching on tasty apps provided by TLC Catering. We will whittle it down to 10 finalists, and one of those lucky listeners will get the ultimate prize.
We've been building towards this moment all summer long... I can't wait!!
