Santana and Sting

Santana and Sting were found as abandoned and very scared 16-week-old kittens by our Humane Officers back in June 2013. Now, they are around 11 months old and are hoping there shot for becoming part of a family is near. They are extremely bonded and we are requiring that they be adopted out together. They love to sleep curled up with each other, play together and even clean each other. They are shy when first meeting new people and because of this they keep getting passed by. They would do great in a low-traffic and quieter home with a family that is willing to give them the time they need to come of their shells. Once they start warming up they love to play and enjoy getting pets. They get along well with other cats and seem to have good potential with the right dog. If you think you have room in home and heart for these two bonded brothers, please stop by the PHSGA today to meet these special boys!

Ozzy & Sharon Osbourne must really LOVE their English mansion. It has suffered $500,000 of flood damage in one of the country's wettest years. They have to move out for at least 9 months while damage is repaired... mind you - this is the SAME house where Ozzy broke his neck in 2003, suffered from not one, but two fires in 2004 & 2006, and someone broke into the house in 2004 and took $1.5 million in jewelrey. Maybe it's time to throw in the chips...

Four High School kids in New York got in trouble for dressing as KISS for Senior Celebrity Dress Up Day... They didn't even wear the spandex & crazy boots. It was the make-up that got them busted and sent home. The school said it was "not appropriate" because the make-up made their faces unrecognizable. They offered to wear name tags, but were told no & STILL sent home. Boo! Here a picture of the kids, before their parade was rained on...

Francisca

Francisca is a beautiful 10 year old medium hair diluted calico. She arrived back in December as a front-declaw that was found outside emaciated, matted and scared. After some TLC and yummy food she has turned into a stunning lady. She would do best as the only kitty in the castle, but this cutie is all you will need! She LOVES to curl up on your lap and get as many gentle pets as you have to spare. She likes when people are easy-going and is not a fan of being held and because of this we recommend a home with no small children. She still enjoys catnip and playing with toys but then is ready to lay back and soak up the sun in a comfy spot. We are hoping that Francisca finds the forever home and family she so deserves!

Pedro

Pedro is a 12 year old 4-paw declaw that arrived a month ago after his owner passed away. He is adjusting to shelter life, but can’t wait to belong to a family again. He would do best in a home with no dogs and has potential with the right cat, although would also love having the whole kingdom to himself. He LOVES catnip and enjoys playing with toys. At 12 years old this golden boy still has a lot of playful kitten left in him, but soon winds down and loves getting some pets and TLC. Pedro is hoping his golden years are the best years yet!

Snow Blows Winner!

Written by

Congrats to Gene Moore of Kenmore -- Gene, Gene, the SNOW THROWING Machine! Winner of the Snow Blows contest for his prediction of 9.2 inches of snow at the official CAK weather station the first two weeks of February. It's Snapper time thanks to Akron Tractor & Equipment, Inc.!

We're hearing through the grapevine that Van Halen is working on a new album. Alter Bridge/ Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti let it slip in an interview with VH1. He was talking about new music from his solo project, Tremonti< which features Wolfgang Van Halen on bass, and Mark said it's hard to line everyone's schedules up because VH is working on their new album too. Of course he didn't have any inside info how it sounds because Wolfie keeps things pretty quiet.

In other VH news, Scandal singer Patty Smyth says it her that was approached to front the band after David Lee Roth left them without a singer. The timing was wrong and she had to turn them down, so they went with their second choice - Sammy Hagar.

Corbitt

Corbitt is a 4-5 years old Chihuahua mix that weighs about 8 pounds. He is a shy guy that takes some time to warm up with new people and because of this we recommend a home with no small children. Once he knows you, he enjoys sitting on your lap getting pets and then running around playing with toys. He shows good potential with other dogs. Corbitt can’t wait to be part of a family!

Crystabelle

Crystabelle is 6 years old and is described by volunteers as a super sweet mellow lap cat. She is a little on the overweight side, so to help with her weight loss she gets to run around our cat room in the morning and she loves to check on people to see if she can lend a paw. She loves attention and will nuzzle you to see if she can have a few pets. She has potential with the right cat, but would also do great getting all the love to herself. If you think that Crystabelle sounds like she could be a match for your family stop in today to meet this pretty lady.

"Stump the Chump"

The joke of the week is a classic reworked by Mike Jamison of Massillon:

Three nuns died at the same time, and find themselves at the Pearly Gates.
St. Peter says he can let them in but only after they answer a question correctly.

The first, 21, is asked who created the Ark? "Easy," she replies, "Noah." In she goes.

The second, only 23, is asked who carried the Ten Commandments down the mountain? "Why, Moses, of course!" and into Heaven she strides.

The third, at 85, thinks to herself "what a piece of cake." "What were Eve's first words to Adam?" asks St. Peter. She's stumped...hmmmm...finally mutters "boy oh boy, that's a hard one!" And the Gates opened....

PBS's digital studios has taken Jimi Hendrix's final interview before his death and set it to animation for their Blank on Blank series. The theme of the series is "famous names, lost interviews." The interview is from September 11, 1970. Check it out...

The pictures and accusations have been floating around all week about how The Red Hot Chili Peppers were totally unplugged and faking that they were playing their instruments. Flea issued a statement saying that the NFL allows live vocals, but is very strict aboutinstruments being pre-recorded. They have very little time to get the halftime show done and will not let poor quality sound interfere with the halftime show. Flea admits the band is very set against faking and miming their music, but agreed this was a once in a lifetime thing to be on the halftime show of the Super Bowl and went ahead with the gig - but purposely did not plug in - which would have avoided the controversy - but "thought better to not pretend."

"When we were asked by the NFL and Bruno to play our song Give It Away at the Super Bowl, it was made clear to us that the vocals would be live, but the bass, drums, and guitar would be pre-recorded. I understand the NFL's stance on this, given they only have a few minutes to set up the stage, there a zillion things that could go wrong and ruin the sound for the folks watching in the stadium and the t.v. viewers. There was not any room for argument on this, the NFL does not want to risk their show being botched by bad sound, period.

Cornflake and Rockefeller

Cornflake and Rockefeller are a 6 month dynamic duo that have been best buds since arriving at the shelter. Due to their incredible bond we would prefer that they stay together. They are every bit energetic and playful like kittens. They love to play with toy mice and even occasionally steal toys from their neighbors cage. They are a lot of fun and would provide endless entertainment in the home. They are still shy with humans and need a home that is willing to be patient with them while they get comfortable in their environment and learn to trust. That could take weeks or even over a month to become 100% comfortable in a new home with new surroundings. They are definitely worth the extra TLC, just stop in and meet them and see for yourself!

It's official! MOTLEY CRUE's final tour All Bad Things Must Come To An End is coming to Blossom Music Center on August 12th. The show features "special guest" ALICE COOPER! Folk legend Pete Seeger has passed away from natural causes at the age of 94. Seeger grew up in New York and was the son of a musicologist and a classical violinist. He was a huge part of the New York music scene in Greenwich Village and an early supporter of Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and more. He inspired countless musicians with his music to promote change and open the world's eyes, including Bruce Springsteen, whi became his friend and even put out an album of Seeger's music.
