500 Motorcyclists will honor “Fallen Law Enforcement Officers” Sunday June 30, 2013
On Sunday June 30th, the 5th Annual Cops Ride will begin at 10:30 AM with a Ceremony honoring Ohio’s Fallen Law Enforcement Officers at the Greater Cleveland Peace Officers Memorial at West 3rd and Lakeside Ave. As in past years Monica Robins, WKYC news anchor, will be the Master of Ceremonies of the Cops Ride Ceremony and will begin with the singing of the National Anthem. There were one hundred and twenty Fallen Officers during 2012 and the following two Fallen Officers were from Ohio:

Police Officer Jason Edward Gresko - Part time Willoughby Police Department and Full Time Cleveland Clinic Police Department- End of Watch September 21, 2012
During the first five months of 2013, there have been forty nine (49) Fallen Law Enforcement Officers have Ended Watch in the Line of Duty. The Fallen Officers average 40 years of age, with 12 years of service and in most cases leave behind a spouse with children.
An estimated five hundred motorcyclists will begin to stage at 8:30 AM on Lakeside Avenue and will be donating $20 per person to participate in a forty mile police escorted processional ride that will begin promptly at 11:00 AM at the conclusion of the Ceremony. The motorcyclist will ride from downtown Cleveland to South-East Harley Davidson in Bedford Heights arriving there around 12:30 for food and entertainment.The detailed route is available at www.copsride.com.
Sgt. Mark Krumhauer of the Westlake Police Department and President of “Cops Ride” indicated the goal for this year’s Cops Ride is to raise $10,000 which will be donated to Greater Cleveland Peace Officers Memorial Society (GCPOMS) to assist in the planned renovation of the Memorial. There are still tickets available for the 5th Annual Cops Ride which can be purchased at Harley Davidson Sales Company of Cleveland, Lake Erie Harley Davidson of Avon, Western Reserve Harley Davidson of Mentor and at South East Harley Davidson of Bedford Heights, this year’s host dealership. For those registering before Sunday June 16th they will receive a free 2013 Cops Ride tee shirt, after June 16th the cost per person increases to $30 and does not include a free tee shirt. Riders can register the morning of the Cops Ride as they stage their motorcycles.
